Dear Colleague,

The Organizing Committee of the 10th National Congress of Seismology and Earthquake Engineering - Sísmica 2016 and of the 1st International Workshop on Natural Hazards – NatHaz16, decided to extend the deadline for the reduced fees of registration until next February 29th of 2016.

Do not miss the opportunity to meet people interested to learn, discuss, exchange ideas and update knowledge in the fields of seismology, seismic behavior of buildings, bridges and other structures, risk management and safety.

The unique beauty derived from the volcanic nature of the Azores islands, the geographical, cultural and gastronomical specificities, as well as the hospitality of the Azorean people, should serve as a greater justification to combine the technical and scientific interest to the tourism aspect and take advantage of this excellent opportunity to visit the Azores, particularly the island of São Miguel.

Extension of the deadline for abstracts submission

posted Oct 2, 2015, 3:20 AM by Lrec Açores

Dear Colleague;

Following a significant number of contacts requesting more time for abstracts preparation, the Organizing Committee has decided to extend the abstract submission deadline until October 18th, 2015.

There will be no further extensions of the abstract submission deadline!

Do not miss the chance to meet people interested on learning, discussing and exchanging the most recent ideas and experiences on several issues related with natural hazards, particularly about soil characterization and site effects, in this first workshop edition. It will also be a great opportunity to closely contact the local reality, evidenced both by technical concerns in terms of monitoring, prevention, soil characterization and site effects related with the action of the largest earthquakes of the last decades (July 9, 1998 in Faial island and January 1, 1980 in Terceira island).

It will also provide an excellent occasion to enjoy the beautiful landscape of S. Miguel Island. The beauty given by the volcanic nature of Azores islands, its geographical, cultural and gastronomical specificities and the hospitality of the Azorean people may also be a good justification for combining the technical and scientific interest with the touristic aspects and take advantage of this excellent opportunity to visit the Azores, particularly S. Miguel Island.

The Organizing Committee alerts you to submit your Abstract until the 18th October 2015.

Please make sure you submit your abstract, as soon as possible, through the easychair platform link available on the "General Information" section.

Yours sincerely,

Francisco Fernandes
